Lampshade Making Group

Lampshade makers support group

If you enjoy making Victorian lampshades as much as I do, then you will simply love the Facebook group created by Crystal Hayes at Elegance Lamps! The group, appropriately named “Lamp & Shade Makers” is a community of people who either have interest in, or are currently makers of lampshades and lamps, whether Victorian style lampshades or any other style.

What are the benefits of joining the Lamp & Shade Makers Group? If you are a self-taught artist like me, then you already know how difficult it can be to learn the best practices of lampshade making. With over 4,000 members, you have direct access to experienced professional lampshade makers who openly share advice, tips, and tricks of the trade. Many members have been making lampshades for decades. Save yourself the time and stress of learning the making process—simply reach out to the group!

The group rules are very simple. It is a place for learning, sharing, and growing our lampshade making skills. Kindness, courtesy, and respect are mandatory. The group is not a sales channel, which means it is not a place to post “lampshades for sale” or to promote artists other than yourself. Since the group is for people, pages are not allowed as members. Come join the fun!

Why a Group for Lampshade Makers?

For those of us who have been in the handmade lampshade business for many years, it is important to ensure that quality standards are maintained in the industry. Providing resources and support to lampshade makers is a means to both give back to the community, and to preserve awareness of quality construction techniques that yield quality products in the marketplace, and in your home.
