The Special Role of Lamps in Winter

Victorian Lampshades & Antique Lamps in Winter

Lamps play a very important role in our lives—they provide light by which to see, and they also provide the ambiance that makes our homes feel special. Our lighting reflects our personality, whether utilitarian, maximalist or something in the middle. Regardless, we use our lights a great deal more in the darkness of winter and especially moreso in locations far from the equator.

Not everyone has the same interior decorating tastes and therefore, Elegance Lamps makes every effort to ensure that a variety of colors and styles are offered.  Below are photos of recent releases that span a variety of styles and taste preferences. But they all have one thing in common; quality. Antique lamps were made to last seemingly forever, and once they are refurbished, they are like new. No lamps today can match American-made antique lamps in style and durability. When paired with a handmade silk Victorian lampshade created with antique textiles, they are a beautiful representation of the beauty and quality of the past.

Antique Lamps and Victorian Lampshades

“Checkmate” Antique Lamp and Beaded Victorian Lampshade

A magnificent milk glass antique lamp base paired with a swirling velvet handmade Victorian lampshade. The black and white color scheme blends seamlessly into most home décor themes. This creative work was inspired by the game of Chess, which is a wonderful pastime when snowed in during winter weekends and nights.

“Blue Moon” Antique Lamp and Victorian Lampshade

A crescent moon themed Art Nouveau lamp and shade in soft blue and taupe. The handmade lampshade was created with hand-dyed silk, antique cabbage lace, and strikingly beautiful antique textiles from France. The beads on the lampshade were strung one bead at a time over several days. This lamp provides a soft light for drinking cocoa by the warm fire.

“Deco” Antique Lamp and Victorian Lampshade

Incredible antique chenille textiles and laces were used to create this amazing lampshade with hand-strung beads and a remarkable antique lamp base. Bold blue and spring green never looked so good together. This lamp will brighten the darkest days of winter.
