Sourcing Antique Textiles in Paris France

French Antique & Vintage Textiles for Victorian Lampshades

My obsession with antique and vintage French textiles is no secret. There’s little I love more than creating one-of-a-kind handmade Victorian lampshades with reclaimed antique textiles. Lampshades embellished in this manner are simply outstanding when paired with antique lamps.

Finding antique textiles in quantities suitable to make an entire lampshade is incredibly challenging. Online vendors often sell small pieces and a significant markup to ensure their profits. Since most antique textiles are unique and rare, sourcing can be a difficult endeavor.

My stock is depleting! Therefore, it is time to head back to France in search of beautiful antique and vintage French textiles. I’m excited to see what turns up this year in the tiny shops along the cobblestone street, and of course, the fabric district in the 18th Arrondissment.

I’m so excited to bring you amazing textiles for creation of heirloom pieces that you can treasure for a lifetime.

The Fabric District in Paris

Loving the fabric district during my last trip to Paris! Silks everywhere, and amazing textiles that simply cannot be found in the United States. This photo, taken in Montmartre, reflects the beginning of an overstuffed suitcase that will barely close upon my return to the States.

Authentic French Lace

Beautiful vintage French lace with metallic threads, beads, and cording. So expensive, and yet so worthwhile. When in Paris, I buy as much yardage of French laces as I can afford because most laces listed as “French” online are manufactured nowhere near France. Be sure to inquire with your lace vendor to determine if the “French” lace you’re considering is manufactured in France.

Medieval Textiles in Art

Exploring Medieval textures and patterns French art galleries! There’s nothing quite like seeing the masterpieces in person for inspiration and admiration of antique textiles. Seen here, color block, brocade and amazing jeweled headpieces.
