Working the design process.

Crystal Hayes at Elegance Lamps working the vintage lampshade design process.

Get an exciting behind-the-scenes look at a work-in-progress piece of art by Crystal Hayes at Elegance Lamps. Crystal is currently crafting a stunning vintage-style Victorian lampshade, and it's shaping up to be a masterpiece.

The lampshade, with its charming "pumpkin" shape, is being adorned with exquisite antique embroidered floral netting from the 1920s. The netting will drape over a luxurious silk fabric that fades seamlessly from lemon to peach to raspberry. Once the netting is meticulously sewn onto the frame, the intricate process of hand-stringing bead strands will begin.

Crystal's dedication shines through as she carefully strings each bead by hand. The beads for this project include sparkling Czech crystals, vintage French seed beads, gold-plated metals, and unique Indian clay beads, all chosen to enhance the lampshade's elegance.

Upon completion, this Victorian lampshade will be paired with a beautifully restored antique lamp from Crystal's extensive collection of American-made lamps from the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s.

This upcoming creation is sure to ignite your Bohemian spirit. Stay tuned for more updates!

The Completed Piece

The wait is over, and the Victorian lampshade is now complete! This magnificent piece captures the essence of Bohemian spirit with its vibrant and intricate design.

The lampshade frame is beautifully enveloped in antique embroidered floral netting, dating back to the 1920s. The netting, with its colorful floral patterns, seamlessly blends into the luxurious silk fabric beneath, with a gracefull color transition. This stunning color gradient adds a dynamic and enchanting glow when the lamp is lit.

Each bead adorning this lampshade has been hand-selected and meticulously hand-strung by Crystal herself. The combination of Czech crystals, vintage French seed beads, gold-plated metals, and Indian clay beads creates a harmonious and elegant finish. The beads perfectly complement the floral embroidery, enhancing the overall aesthetic and adding a touch of sophistication.

Paired with a restored American-made antique lamp base this piece is not just a lamp but a statement of art and history. The lamp radiates a warm, inviting glow, perfect for any space looking to embrace a Bohemian vibe.

This lampshade is a true testament to Crystal’s dedication to craftsmanship and her passion for creating unique, beautiful pieces.
