Elegance Lamps is in England and Wales, in search of luxurious antique textile treasures for creation of gorgeous lamps. It is simply delightful to peek in ancient antique stores, walk the open markets and pour through drawers of laces in secret specialty stores!
On this trip, I am curating antique brocade, silk devore and handmade embroideries of yesteryear. Let’s not forget vintage and antique beads…. you never know what will be found. I’ll be making stops in York, Bath, Leeds, and of course, London. A must see while in London will be the Victoria and Albert Museum. It doesn’t get much more Victorian than that!
Sourcing Antique Textiles for Victorian Lampshades and Luxury Antique Lamps
The trip to Spain and Portugal last year yielded some amazing laces and my collection is growing by leaps and bounds. I can’t wait to experiment with the darker antique mantilla laces, and you’ve already seen some of the stunning laces I bought in Paris on lamps such as “Moon Fairies” and “Cathedral Window”.
For Fall, I’m leaning toward copper, bronze and earth-toned colors but also be on the lookout for a vivid yellow piece and a striking angular back-and-white lamp with endless Czech crystals. So many ideas!
