Inspiration for Victorian Lampshades & Antique Lamps
Finding Inspiration for Lampshades and Lamps
There has been a flurry of custom orders lately at Elegance Lamps! It seems that the increased time spent indoors is allowing us time to consider home décor upgrades. Are you having the same experience? If so, please feel to reach out to me, and I will add you to the schedule for creation of stunning Victorian lampshades, antique lamps, or whatever your heart desires. It is tremendously exciting for me to learn what designs inspire customers.
There is no limit to the diversity in antique lamps and Victorian lampshade styles. As a maker, I find a spark of inspiration and I’m overcome with creative ideas floating around in my mind. While it is true that quality works of art take a great deal to create, a great idea deserves to be implemented regardless of the time investment required. Luxury lamps must look and feel luxurious and this can only occur if a lampshade maker takes the necessary time to plan and construct products with quality as a guiding principle.
Inspiration for unique works of art lighting come from many places. Films, books, works of fine art, nature, and history are a few sources from which I draw inspiration for concept designs. What are your sources of inspiration for making art?
Luxury Victorian Lampshades and Antique Lamps
Custom Order: “Bourbon Street” Victorian Lampshade Pair
This client recently traveled to New Orleans and was inspired by the dark and slightly Gothic aesthetic. Made with ten yards of hand-dyed silk, and five yards of antique silk Chantilly lace, these massive shades are ombre-dyed to appear coppery by day, and radiant red by night. Ostrich feathers were added for dramatic effect and texture. The smoky color on the silk lampshades makes this pair a truly inspired set.
“Dreamscape” Antique Lamp and Victorian Lampshade
With an anachronistic blend of Nouveau and Bohemian elements of style, this antique lamp and Victorian lampshade pairing was designed with only one objective in mind…to create a feeling of unrestrained joy. The pairing of unusual colors, asymmetric bead patterns, and creative layering yielded a one-of-a-kind art lighting piece that exemplifies thinking outside the box. Bohemian luxury!
“The Majestic” Beaded Antique Lamp by Crystal Hayes
Art Deco styling, luscious red velvet, and beads for miles! This handmade Victorian lampshade and antique lamp pairing was inspired by 1920s glamour. There’s a special place in my heart for Art Deco. I love the geometric shapes and that everything was beaded in the Roaring ‘20’s. Art Deco Luxury!
